Structural
Insulated Panels or SIP’s In
a test program performed at the Oak Ridge National Laboratories, SIP’s
exceeded standard frame walls in energy efficiency by over 50%. Another
test program was sponsored by the Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA).
Testing demonstrated that panel joints did not create cold spots. This
contrasted to stick built walls which had cold spots over each lumber stud in
the testing. Dramatically reducing cold spots provides a more comfortable
interior environment. Insulated
Concrete Forms, ICF’s To
make the basement more comfortable insulated forms made of Perform Guard
polystyrene are used to form the basement walls and are left in place as part of
the wall. A basement
wall built with this system has 17 times the insulating value of a standard
concrete wall.
Silent
floor system The
Silent floor system is designed with engineered lumber.
It includes the floor trusses and the flooring glued and nailed together.
With proper installation it eliminated squeaks, is stiffer than a regular
floor system, and uses 1/3 less natural forest than a standard floor system. |
